Remembering Kraig

This site was created in memory of our son, brother and friend, Kraig Leochko. He was a kind, gentle and loving soul who touched the lives of everyone around him.

Story

December 15th 1994-December 25th 2023

Kraig Gordon Robert Leochko was born on December 15th, 1994 and raised in Princeton, BC amidst a loving family. As Kraig grew up and became an active member of the community, he began to struggle with mental health and substance abuse issues. These were contributing factors to his death by suicide on December 25th, 2023 in Princeton BC. He was 29 years old.

Kraig had a passion for sports, teaching and coaching. Kraig was the light in every room that he entered, and he was everyone’s best friend, human or animal. Kraig had the biggest heart, and when he loved people, he loved them with everything he had. His friends and family are devastated by this loss. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

Kraig is survived by his mother, Danelle “Dani” Grothe (Guy), his father Darrell Leochko, his brother Keith MacWhirter, his sisters Nancy MacWhirter (Richard) and Annalyn MacWhirter. He is also survived by a Gramp, a Bubba, and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins and of course, his friends.

There will be a Celebration of Life held in the Spring of 2024. There will be more specific details to follow.

Thank you to all who have contributed comfort, memories and sympathy to the family. Our hearts share this pain with all the bereaved who loved Kraig.
